Position Overview
The Associate Counsel plays a pivotal role in offering legal counsel to Perry Homes, focusing on the prevention and management of litigation while ensuring compliance with legal standards. Key areas of focus include consumer transactions, safety protocols, supply chain dynamics, contractor relationships, and various regulatory compliance matters. This position requires close collaboration with both internal teams and external partners.
Key Responsibilities
· Oversee and resolve all facets of ongoing litigation for the organization, engaging outside counsel as necessary. This includes handling disputes, claims, and lawsuits tied to construction projects (such as design flaws, lien disputes, accident claims, and payment issues), as well as consumer transaction disputes and commercial conflicts with suppliers, contractors, insurers, and other stakeholders.
· Provide expert legal advice on various aspects of ongoing litigation, assisting outside counsel with discovery responses, witness preparation, depositions, mediations, trial preparations, and risk assessments.
- Offer legal guidance on safety programs and overall safety compliance, including support for the rollout of new safety initiatives.
- Advise on compliance matters, including I-9 and immigration issues.
- Review and draft contracts, notices, and disclosures related to home sales.
- Evaluate and provide legal advice on marketing materials, contracts, and home warranty matters.
- Assist in monitoring and executing the Company's legislative and regulatory agenda as required.
- Conduct legal training sessions for outside sales teams and construction management personnel when necessary.
- Perform legal research as needed to fulfill job responsibilities.
- Stay updated on legal developments that could impact the Company's operations.
- Complete tasks under tight deadlines when required.
- Undertake additional duties as assigned.
