AECOM is seeking a passionate and innovative Renewable Energy Technical Lead to guide our exceptional team of engineers and designers engaged in renewable energy projects nationwide within the US Energy Practice. In this role, AECOM offers the flexibility to work remotely or from various Energy offices located throughout the United States.
Our team delivers a comprehensive suite of engineering services for projects across the country. The scope of renewable projects encompasses commercial and industrial installations focused on resilience, efficiency, and reliability, alongside utility-scale initiatives designed to power communities through interconnected networks or high-density local installations. Key areas include solar photovoltaics (PV), including cutting-edge technologies such as agrivoltaics and floating PV, energy storage systems (e.g., BESS, supercapacitors), interconnection, wind repowering, and new site development.
We are in search of an emerging leader with a diverse technical background in distributed energy solutions to showcase our capabilities to prospective clients while nurturing our extensive existing client relationships.
Qualified candidates will possess a robust engineering background combined with experience in team supervision and project leadership.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with the department manager to foster a culture of technical excellence and accountability.
- Supervise and mentor a team of engineers and designers to enhance their individual and collective technical skills, ensuring greater value to the organization and overall career satisfaction.
- Provide mentorship to fellow engineers within the US Energy Practice and remote teams.
- Drive project efficiency improvements by developing, updating, and implementing team-specific standards and templates.
- Offer insights to management regarding project resourcing and staffing forecasts.
- Create task and deliverable lists with associated time estimates and schedules to support business development for renewable and decentralized energy projects.
- Assist in the department’s strategic resource initiatives and actively engage in recruitment efforts.
- Lead by example in technical execution, acting as the technical lead and engineer of record on projects.
- Conduct engineering calculations to inform and direct construction deliverables including specifications, reports, and drawings.
- Support projects throughout their lifecycle, from feasibility studies to detailed design and implementation.
