We are seeking a results-driven, well-organized, and dynamic iOS Lead Engineer with a proactive mindset. The ideal candidate will possess exceptional management skills and have the capability to lead teams across multiple locations in Africa, ideally with start-up experience.
JOB SUMMARY:
As the iOS Lead Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in developing and maintaining applications for a variety of iOS devices, including mobile phones and tablets. Your primary responsibility will focus on iOS application development and seamless integration with back-end services. You will collaborate with fellow engineers and developers on various infrastructure layers. A commitment to collaborative problem-solving, sophisticated design, and delivering quality products is essential.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
▪ Design and build applications for the iOS platform
▪ Ensure optimal performance, quality, and responsiveness of applications
▪ Develop robust APIs, libraries, and tools to support Autochek engineers and operations
▪ Take full ownership of functionality and scalability features from inception to deployment
▪ Maintain high engineering standards and consistency in codebases, infrastructure, and processes
▪ Collaborate with a team to define, design, and launch new features
▪ Identify and resolve bottlenecks and bugs
▪ Assist in maintaining code quality, organization, and automation
COMPETENCY PROFILE:
TECHNICAL REQUIREMENTS
● Proficient with iOS frameworks such as Core Data and Core Animation
● Experience with offline storage, threading, and performance tuning
● Familiarity with RESTful APIs for connecting iOS applications to back-end services
● Knowledge of web technologies and UI/UX standards
● Understanding of Apple’s design principles and interface guidelines
● Familiarity with low-level C-based libraries is a plus
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS REQUIRED
▪ Proven experience in creating libraries and tools for engineering and operations
● Expertise in building and designing fast iOS applications
● Familiarity with software engineering development cycles
● Proficient in SwiftUI and Swift
● Ability to uphold high standards for yourself and the team
● Strong communication and interpersonal skills
