We are currently looking for empathetic and dedicated Mental Health Promoters to provide direct support to transitional age youth (ages 16-25), individuals experiencing homelessness, older adults (65+), and others facing barriers to mental health care and basic needs.
About the Role
Mental Health Promoters are valued members of the community who offer essential support, resource navigation, and emotional assistance to individuals grappling with mental health challenges and social barriers. No clinical degree is required, we seek individuals with compassion, lived experience, cultural ties to our communities, and a strong desire to help others. If you have faced challenges in your life, understand the struggle, and want to make a difference, this position is for you.
Key Responsibilities
- Establish trusting relationships with community members through one-on-one support, active listening, and consistent follow-up.
- Assist individuals in navigating systems and connecting to resources such as housing, food assistance, healthcare, mental health services, and social support.
- Conduct needs assessments to identify each person’s unique challenges, strengths, and goals.
- Provide emotional support, encouragement, and hope during difficult times using trauma-informed and culturally responsive approaches.
- Engage community members through outreach at resource fairs, community events, shelters, and other gathering places.
- Make referrals, coordinate services, and follow up to ensure successful connection with resources.
- Administer brief surveys and outcome measures to monitor progress and evaluate program effectiveness.
- Document services, track data, and maintain accurate records using our CRM system.
- Participate in team meetings, training, and supervision for continuous skill improvement.
- Collaborate with community partners, service providers, and other organizations to build a robust support network.
