- Establish, guide, and oversee all departmental and financial targets, budgets, and objectives for the assigned automation area.
- Lead the automation department to align with site and automation business strategies; responsible for managing cost center expenditures, project budgets, and the successful delivery of projects that support essential plant and facility initiatives.
- Ensure adherence to relevant policies and procedures while maintaining the quality and efficacy of major project outcomes through robust design, proactive risk assessments, and implementation of contingency strategies.
- Possess comprehensive awareness of the potential impacts (defects and failure modes) associated with design modifications to established processes.
- Minimize risks within functions through effective design practices, early risk evaluations, and fallback strategies.
- Advocate for and implement business strategies and automation controls aimed at reducing costs, enhancing efficiencies, and achieving world-class operational performance.
- Collaborate with colleagues and cross-functional partners to establish action plans, timelines, and budgets for project objectives, and coordinate the planning and allocation of automation resources needed for execution.
- Analyze market dynamics (customers, suppliers, competitors, technologies, government regulations) to identify trends and propose strategic responses. Independently execute or direct others in the design of products, processes, equipment, systems, and facilities by leveraging innovative automation theories and concepts.
- Develop and nurture staff through effective hiring practices, performance management, talent development, and clear communication of expectations.
