About You and the RoleZipline is seeking a passionate Mechanical Test Engineering Manager to lead the team responsible for testing and validating the functionality and reliability of safety-critical hardware. You will focus on our innovative Platform 2, which is entering a pivotal phase of development. Platform 2 signifies a groundbreaking advancement as we gear up to manufacture hundreds of thousands of life-saving drones, marking our most ambitious and impactful project to date. This is not merely another drone initiative; it’s a revolutionary hybrid eVTOL designed to transform how lifesaving products are delivered globally.In this role, you will guide a multidisciplinary team of test engineers, engaging across various functions to ensure the delivery of high-performing, safe, and reliable hardware from initial development testing through to full validation. Your efforts will enable Zipline to expand its impact from hundreds of thousands of deliveries per year to hundreds of millions, accommodating diverse environmental conditions worldwide. You will be both a strategic visionary and an active participant in the team’s design, build, analysis, and review processes.Additionally, you will play a crucial role in evolving Zipline’s hardware testing philosophy and capabilities while expanding the team. The success of this team is essential to Zipline’s overall mission.
