Key Responsibilities of the Federal Business Development Representative
The Federal BDR is tasked with developing and qualifying a sales pipeline across U. S. Federal Civilian, Department of Defense (DoD), and related agencies.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Identifying and researching target agencies that align with Hack The Box’s Federal Ideal Customer Profile (ICP), including DoD, DHS, DOJ, Treasury, and the Intelligence Community.
- Mapping agency buying centers, including CIOs, CISOs, Cyber Workforce Leads, Training Commands, and SOC Leadership.
- Navigating contract vehicles such as GSA, SEWP, IDIQs, and primes/subs.
- Engaging in compliant outbound activities that align with Federal acquisition cycles.
- Qualifying inbound and outbound opportunities using the MEDDPICC framework.
- Multi-threading across technical, operational, and procurement stakeholders.
- Collaborating closely with Federal Account Executives (AEs) and leadership to strategically build accounts.
- Understanding that federal selling is strategic, deliberate, and requires patience, research, and persistence.
This role is classified as non-exempt and is eligible for overtime. The expected schedule is Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week, with any additional hours requiring prior approval. Hack The Box adheres to all federal and state overtime regulations.

Join a Dynamic Team
You will report to the U. S. BDR Leadership and collaborate closely with the Federal AE team to implement strategic territory plans. This role is focused on strategic public sector engagement rather than transactional outbound sales.
As a Business Development Representative at Hack The Box, you will be part of a diverse revenue team, including BDRs, AEs, Solution Engineers, Customer Success, and Marketing professionals. You will also receive guidance from our BDR Head based in the U. S. to foster your growth in this role while working in tandem with AEs in your region.

Required Skills, Knowledge & Experience
- Proven experience in B2B sales, preferably with exposure to the Federal or Public Sector.
- Strong understanding of federal procurement processes and sales strategies.
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment while independently managing tasks.
- Proficiency in utilizing sales and CRM tools effectively.
