Position Overview
As the Field Manager for Construction Materials Testing (CMT), you will play a crucial role in delivering technical expertise while overseeing quality assurance and quality control processes. Your responsibilities will include defining the scope of services and estimates for materials testing projects, managing inspections, directing project staff, and overseeing budgets. You will also serve as a key advisor on complex projects, requiring travel to various job sites under diverse weather and terrain conditions to coordinate with construction teams and provide technical support to clients throughout the construction phase.
In this role, you will ensure effective communication with clients and project teams, guaranteeing the successful execution of inspections and materials testing in accordance with the International Building Code, Department of Transportation standards, and specific project specifications.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and supervise field staff in conducting precise geotechnical and construction inspections and testing activities.
- Analyze and interpret project plans and specifications; advise on optimal strategies for completing testing assignments.
- Prepare and deliver timely project summary reports.
- Support the development of project scopes, estimates, and proposals; provide construction recommendations as necessary.
- Participate in client meetings and act as a resource for troubleshooting and resolution.
- Organize and facilitate preconstruction conferences and necessary project meetings.
- Work in varied terrain and weather conditions across multiple construction phases.
- Identify and address potential safety hazards for workers and the public around project locations.
