The Opportunity

As the CommOps Fire Safety Team Leader, you will be integral in preparing Hinkley Point C for commissioning and pre-operations. Your leadership in fire safety management will be crucial in a complex, high-risk setting, ensuring the well-being of personnel while facilitating EDF’s mission towards An Electric Britain.

Your journey begins with a starting salary of £67,000 per annum, primarily based at the #HinkleyPointC site. This position allows for some flexibility in remote work or other EDF office locations, balanced with a strong on-site presence to meet operational needs.

As you lead a talented team, you will be responsible for defining fire safety protocols, engaging with stakeholders, and fostering a robust fire safety culture. Your contributions will underpin regulatory compliance, operational readiness, and long-term safety across one of the UK’s most vital infrastructure projects.

Who You Are

We seek a CommOps Fire Safety Team Leader who embodies confidence, clarity, and purpose, capable of balancing strategic oversight with hands-on involvement. To be considered, you should possess:

  • A minimum Level 4 Fire Safety qualification from an accredited professional body, such as the Institute of Fire Engineers
  • At least five years of fire safety experience in complex construction, process, or nuclear environments
  • Demonstrated experience in leading and implementing Fire Safety Management Systems on nuclear-licensed sites
  • In-depth knowledge of UK and international fire safety standards and CDM Regulations
  • Expertise in developing and validating fire risk assessments within high-risk settings

To proceed with this role, you must satisfy the criteria for Counter Terrorist Check (CTC) Security Vetting, typically necessitating UK residency for a minimum of three of the past five years.

  • Overseeing the development and validation of the CommOps Fire Safety Management Plan
  • Leading and supporting a team of fire safety professionals
  • Offering expert fire safety guidance throughout construction, commissioning, and pre-operations
  • Supervising fire and DSEAR risk assessments and compliance efforts
  • Collaborating with contractors, regulators, and internal teams to enhance fire safety performance
