Role overview
This Flight Sciences Engineer position (Level II or Senior) centers on conceptual design and aerodynamic analysis for hypersonic vehicles. The role is based in Mojave, CA.
What you will do
- Work with a small, advanced team to design current and future Stratolaunch hypersonic vehicles
- Conduct trade studies at the conceptual design stage
- Carry out detailed design and analysis tasks
- Create and refine analytical tools to support engineering projects
- Assist with flight testing of operational vehicles
Requirements
- Strong background in aerodynamics and flight mechanics, including stability and control
- Experience developing aerodynamic models and performing flight simulations
- Knowledge of computational fluid dynamics (CFD)
- Familiarity with wind tunnel testing
- Aircraft design and performance analysis experience across subsonic to hypersonic speeds is highly desirable
