You will guide Advanced Quality Engineers in decision-making, problem resolution, and program management during launches. Collaborating closely with Program Managers and the Launch team, you will ensure that all Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) documentation, customer-specific requirements, and internal needs are met to guarantee a seamless start of production.Key Responsibilities:Oversee all quality-related launch activities, serving as the liaison for both internal and external customers. Prepare APQP and Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) documentation for products in the launch phase. Collaborate with Quality and Engineering teams on new programs to verify compliance with all customer requirements.Participate in all assigned program team meetings and assist fellow Advanced Quality Engineers as needed.Rapidly acquire detailed product knowledge.Work alongside Project Engineers to ensure Failure Mode and Effects Analysis (FMEAs) are completed promptly to influence tooling designs.Support Supplier Quality Engineers in reviewing supplier PPAPs and assist in the supplier selection process.Develop effective Control Plans.Provide guidance on dimensional tolerancing and specifications evaluation and approval.

The project adopts a pilot-first approach that entails: (1) standardizing downtime/failure coding,(2) improving preventive maintenance effectiveness based on actual failure modes,(3) building and validating Plex Equipment BOMs for targeted assets to enhance parts readiness,(4) completing 2–3 root cause analysis countermeasures with validated results.When and Where:This position will be a 1st Shift / 7am - 4pm M-F role located at our plant in Walker, MI.

Position Overview: The Lead Technical Controls Engineer represents the pinnacle of technical expertise within our department. This role is responsible for designing and delivering sophisticated automation cells, incorporating elements such as PLC, HMI, robotics, motion control, safety systems, electrical, and pneumatic components. As the primary technical mentor for the Controls team, the Lead Engineer establishes coding and hardware standards, influences system architecture decisions, and troubleshoots high-impact issues. Additionally, this role plays a vital part in advanced discussions with customers and suppliers, ensuring that the Controls Engineering division is well represented.

Senior Controls EngineerPosition Overview: As a Senior Controls Engineer, you will play a pivotal role in the design, programming, commissioning, debugging, and deployment of advanced automation systems. This position not only allows you to work independently on multi-million-dollar projects but also gives you the opportunity to informally mentor junior engineers. You will take charge of electrical design, PLC/HMI/robot code, motion control solutions, and ensure safety compliance throughout the entire project lifecycle. This role reports directly to the Director of Engineering.Key Responsibilities:Design and develop PLC (ladder/structured text), HMI, simulations, and robot programs that achieve cycle-time, quality, and safety objectives.Manage multiple projects across various phases (design, build, debug, runoff) while ensuring clarity and responsiveness in your tasks.Lead specific project segments from conception to completion, maintaining task lists, adhering to budgets, and supporting on-site startup activities.Implement departmental coding/electrical standards and suggest incremental improvements for technical review.Guide Level 1-3 engineers during code reviews and debugging, mentor interns and co-ops on best practices, and conduct “lunch-and-learn” sessions as needed.Collaborate with Mechanical, Build, Electrical, and Project Management teams to align project scope and resolve integration challenges.Conduct root-cause analysis on complex debugging issues, escalating as necessary.Present technical details to clients, clarify specifications, and collaborate with vendors on component selection.Willingness to travel approximately 10% - 20% is required.- Champion Our Operating Principles: You will be expected to actively embody and uphold our ten Operating Principles, which guide our actions and decisions at Axis Automation.
