Job Overview
We are looking for a skilled Industrial Engineer (IE) to innovate and validate the physical manufacturing systems within our shipyard. This pivotal role involves designing building layouts, evaluating process flow paths, assessing square footage requirements, and creating capacity models for all key shipyard operations.
Key Responsibilities
Design comprehensive shipyard layouts that enhance throughput, accommodate product variations, and align with block construction strategies.
Define essential building specifications, including footprints, ceilings heights, bay dimensions, and crane coverage.
Determine square footage requirements for panel fabrication, sub-assembly, block assembly, and pre-outfitting processes.
Create and implement capacity and throughput modeling.
Ensure that layouts are conducive to automation-focused processes.
Engage in cross-functional collaboration with engineering, operations, and finance teams.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related field.
A minimum of 5 years of experience in industrial facility layout or manufacturing system design.
Proficient understanding of material flow optimization and analysis of bottlenecks.
Preferred Experience
Experience in heavy manufacturing settings.
Exposure to greenfield facility design.
Familiarity with 3D facility modeling techniques.
Knowledge of automation-driven production systems.
Experience collaborating with design teams and shop-floor operations.
