About the job
Group Director, Brand & Demand Strategy
About the Role
As the Group Director of Brand & Demand Strategy at Directive, you will spearhead the strategic vision for each new client engagement. Your role is to articulate the rationale and methodology that will guide our efforts towards achieving clients' business objectives, ultimately driving the transition from pilot projects to long-term retainers across our Performance, Communications, and Commerce sectors.
Purpose of This Position
At Directive, we operate on a 90-day pilot program. Successful conversion from pilot to a 12-month contract hinges on the strategic framework established within the first month. This pivotal period shapes the outcomes that influence a client’s decision to renew. Currently, our CEO oversees this crucial function, which is vital for business ROI but not scalable in its current form. We are looking for an experienced strategist who can take on this responsibility.
This position is designed to enhance our strategic capabilities rather than merely increase headcount. We seek a senior strategist with the breadth, discernment, and expertise to define strategic direction for all new engagements, regardless of industry (Services, Industrial, B2B Commerce) or service area (Paid Media, Paid Social, SEO, Content, AI/LLM search, Creative, Programmatic, Communications, RevOps).
Your Responsibilities
1. Develop the Strategic Thesis for New Engagements.
You will analyze each client's business, outline a clear strategy, prioritize actions, and synchronize team efforts to create a cohesive plan that aligns with their commercial goals. You set the strategy; our teams will implement it.
2. Enhance Pilot-to-Retainer Conversion Rates.
Your main performance indicator will be the conversion rate of 90-day pilots into 12-month contracts. The strategic thesis developed in the initial 30 days will serve as the key predictor of this outcome. This metric is under your purview.
3. Ensure Strategic Coherence Across Capabilities.
Unlike many agencies that focus on channel-specific strategies, you will operate at a higher level, determining how Paid Media, SEO, Content, Creative, Programmatic, RevOps, and Communications interconnect and support one another for each client. You will serve as the integrator.
4. Internal Consultative Partnership with Subject Matter Experts.
You will foster collaboration with channel SMEs to ensure that our strategies are not only innovative but also actionable and results-driven.
