Position Overview
The Scheduling Manager is a pivotal member of the Project Controls team, tasked with developing, implementing, and refining scheduling standards and practices within Industrial Services. This position is responsible for the creation and maintenance of project schedules, schedule-related procedures, training programs, audits, and the integration of scheduling data into project forecasting and performance reporting. The Scheduling Manager collaborates closely with Project Management, Regional Operations, Estimating, and Finance to ensure that project schedules facilitate timely and budget-compliant delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the advancement and ongoing enhancement of scheduling Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) throughout the project lifecycle, ensuring alignment with project initiation, execution, forecasting, billing, and closure.
- Create and maintain master scheduling templates, time-phased budgets, and logical scheduling standards for use across bids and active projects.
- Develop, review, and validate comprehensive project schedules and recovery plans for high-risk or complex projects, ensuring they are appropriately resource- and cost-loaded.
- Integrate scheduling data with financial and progress reporting to support regular earned value analysis, progress updates, and forecasting activities.
- Collaborate with Estimating to weave schedule assumptions, production rates, and construction insights into pre-construction and bidding documentation.
- Design and deliver training materials and sessions for planners, project managers, superintendents, and schedulers; establish proficiency benchmarks and certify schedule owners.
- Establish and manage schedule governance processes, including baseline approvals, change controls for schedule updates, and key performance indicators for schedule health.
- Conduct routine schedule audits and health assessments across regions; devise remediation strategies and assist on-site when schedule performance is at risk.
- Coordinate with Master Electricians, field leadership, and HR to verify resource availability, skill sets, and compliance related to electrical and trade work.
- Support month-end and project forecasting by validating schedule inputs, ensuring critical path integrity, and measuring earned progress against planned objectives.
- Mentor and coach junior schedulers and planners, enhancing the skill set within the Project Controls team.
- Work with IT and systems teams to optimize scheduling tools, integrations (P6, MS Project, HCSS, or similar), and reporting dashboards.
