The successful candidate will possess the following qualifications:A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Knowledge of distribution design and construction, estimating, and familiarity with NESC and/or RUS codes is preferred. Understanding of the operations of cable television, telephone, and telecommunications companies, and their interactions with electric utilities is advantageous. Proficiency in Joint Use design software and assembly codes such as ArcFM, Partner, Mapwise, PoleForeman, and Ike Office is preferred. Competency in using computer software, including Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and Outlook) is essential. Experience with data conversion using ArcGIS, AutoCAD, or Microstation is preferred. Strong ability to convey technical information, research, interpret, and summarize data effectively. Capability to prioritize multiple projects across various departments. The individual must be self-motivated, adaptable, detail-oriented, and enjoy engaging with both employees and clients while thriving in a fast-paced environment to meet deadlines and uphold the firm’s vision, mission, and values.

Timmons Group is actively seeking talented Joint Use / Telecommunications Designers to enhance our growing team in Harrisonburg, VA. As a Designer, you will oversee contractor work, ensuring quality control and compliance with contracts for roadway and utility projects. Typical project assignments will involve traffic management, addressing sensitive political and environmental matters, and coordinating with property owners, utility companies, and local and state agencies.

Key Responsibilities for the ideal candidate include but are not limited to:

  • Processing attachment permits for Joint Use partners, including cable television providers, telecommunications firms, local governments, and private entities.
  • Serving as a liaison between the company and Joint Use partners concerning permits, inspections, rebuilds, NESC, RUS interpretations, and company policies.
  • Preparing construction and design projects related to joint use, along with cost estimates, notifications, and CATV permits.
  • Ensuring accurate management of payments and billing transactions.
  • Maintaining organized files for agreements, permits, surveys, inspections, and rebuilds.
  • Performing additional duties as assigned, which may include non-Joint Use design work.
  • Exhibiting the capability to work effectively in both office and field settings.
