Qualifications
RESPONSIBILITIES:Operate mechanical testing equipment (static or hydraulic) or characterization instruments (SDT, TGA, TMA, DMA, DSC, FTIR, SEM, etc.) and report on generated material data (UTS, YS, Modulus, etc.). Conduct mechanical tests (tensile, fatigue, compression, etc.) with various materials including metals, polymers, and composites, or perform characterization tasks (thermal testing, imaging, etc.). Assist in the maintenance and calibration of laboratory instruments. Summarize and document test data thoroughly, providing basic interpretations and flagging anomalies for engineering review. Ensure safe and efficient laboratory operations through adherence to safety protocols and maintaining cleanliness and organization. Lead initiatives for lab improvements while fulfilling daily testing requests. Implement and promote 5S principles for workspace organization and cleanliness. Innovate and creatively support team objectives, challenging existing methods to discover unique solutions. Utilize calibrated tools for specimen geometry measurements. Familiarize yourself with applicable ASTM standards.
