About the job

AECOM is looking for an experienced Mechanical Engineering Director to spearhead our U. S. Data Center Mechanical Department, specializing in hyperscale data center projects. This pivotal role involves providing technical leadership and strategic oversight for our mechanical engineering team, ensuring excellence in the delivery of mechanical design services, particularly in HVAC and piping systems, across numerous data center initiatives in the United States.

The ideal candidate will be responsible for maintaining the highest standards of technical quality and consistency, aligning mechanical designs with client specifications. In addition, you will mentor engineers, manage team performance, and support resource planning and staffing, while establishing best practices for mechanical design across our data center portfolio.

While the role includes leadership responsibilities, we expect the Director to remain engaged in technical aspects, providing hands-on oversight and expertise on complex hyperscale data center projects. You will guide project teams through critical design decisions, serving as a senior technical resource for intricate mechanical systems and unique client requirements.

This position allows for a flexible remote work schedule and can be based in various U. S. locations where AECOM has offices.

Note: Although primarily remote, occasional travel may be necessary for client meetings, significant project milestones, site collaboration sessions, or other essential activities. Travel will be pre-scheduled and infrequent.

AECOM stands at the forefront of the global data center consulting industry, with robust teams across the Americas, Europe, Africa, Asia, and Australia. In this role, you will collaborate with international teams on high-profile and fast-paced data center projects for prestigious clients. This is a hands-on, client-facing opportunity with potential for significant career advancement.
