Qualifications

Essential Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in Earth Systems, Geography, Mathematics, or Physics. Certification in the Aeronautical Meteorological Observing training course or an equivalent qualification. Strong analytical skills with exceptional attention to detail and the ability to make precise observations, particularly over long distances. Candidates with vision impairments that affect distant observations may be disqualified. Energetic, self-motivated, and possess a positive attitude. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Willingness to undergo any necessary training as required by the company.

Position Overview:

As a Meteorological Observer, you will be responsible for conducting meteorological, hydrological, and geophysical observations crucial for both air navigation and civil meteorology.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry out surface meteorological observations; accurately observe and record essential meteorological parameters; encode observations into standard formats and transmit coded information.
  • Perform routine and non-routine weather observations at scheduled intervals for civil and aeronautical purposes, including significant weather events as outlined in ICAO Annex 3.
  • Monitor and report significant weather phenomena affecting aviation, such as thunderstorms or reduced visibility, to support airport operational planning.
  • Mentor meteorological observer trainees, ensuring they complete the Aeronautical Meteorological Observing training program and participate in continuous professional education and certifications.
  • Analyze and report climatological data as directed, contributing to comprehensive weather and climate assessments.
  • Execute special weather observations in response to changes in surface wind, visibility, runway visual range, current weather conditions, cloud formations, and air temperature.
  • Ensure all observations are conducted and reported in accordance with ICAO Annex 3, WMO-No.49, as well as regional and national codes and technical regulations concerning content and timeliness.
