About the role
What You Can Anticipate
Heron Power is an innovative startup focused on developing advanced power electronics tailored for the modern electrical grid. Our mission is to eliminate barriers to electricity generation and consumption through scalable, innovative, and cost-effective hardware solutions, accelerating the transition to electrification across all sectors.
Our primary objective is to design superior converters (inverters & rectifiers) that effectively link large-scale renewable energy sources, storage systems, and significant loads to the grid. Our leadership team comprises industry veterans who have successfully designed and launched gigawatts of power conversion technologies over the past decade.
We recognize that expertise is collective. Together, we aim to foster a collaborative and enriching environment that promotes personal, technical, and career advancement. You can expect to immerse yourself in a vibrant atmosphere informed by first principles engineering, tackling complex challenges with a strong emphasis on practical execution and experiential learning.
Position Overview
Ensuring uptime, availability, and reliability are fundamental for our converters (inverters & rectifiers) that integrate large-scale renewable energy, storage solutions, and high-power demands (such as data centers) into the grid. Our focus is on achieving a profound, physics-based comprehension of our systems, from architecture to deployment, resulting in designs that prioritize reliability, safety, and high performance. We merge systems engineering, modeling, reliability, testing, and failure analysis into a cohesive team that collaborates closely with design engineers, challenging assumptions to address the most intricate technical questions.
As a Power Electronics Validation Engineer, you will oversee the technical integration that transforms “a set of subsystems” into “a robust product.” You will define and manage system requirements, interfaces, and verification plans, executing the integration strategy through hands-on development and thorough testing throughout all project phases.
You will collaborate extensively with electrical and mechanical design teams, firmware developers, controls experts, and reliability specialists, identifying root causes for issues encountered in the laboratory or field and ensuring that solutions are validated and resilient against regression.
If you thrive on establishing clarity from uncertainty and have a knack for turning disorder into a systematic approach, this role will be an ideal fit for you.
