About the job
About Our Team
At OpenAI, we are dedicated to bridging our mission with our talented workforce. The People Innovation Labs is an agile engineering group integrated within the People organization, committed to innovating how we attract and retain top talent while empowering our team members to excel.
Unlike conventional internal tools teams, we tackle challenges from recruitment to company culture by designing and implementing systems that provide the People Team with a competitive advantage. Our projects include groundbreaking 0→1 products like OpenHouse (our internal knowledge hub), AI-driven automation tools, performance and growth frameworks, and scalable recruiting infrastructure. Collaboration is key as we work closely with HR, Recruiting, Finance, Legal, IT, Security, and executive leadership.
About the Position
We’re in search of a Program Manager to spearhead the execution, coordination, and delivery of our most intricate and cross-functional initiatives within People Innovation Labs. This position is distinct from that of a Product Manager and emphasizes the process of how we accomplish our goals rather than the outcomes we create.
As a Program Manager, your role will involve translating product strategies into actionable plans, managing interdependencies across teams and systems, and ensuring that critical initiatives are executed smoothly in a rapidly evolving, high-context environment. You will work closely with Product Management, Engineering, Design, and People stakeholders to cultivate clarity, accountability, and momentum throughout our project portfolio.
This opportunity is perfect for individuals who excel at orchestrating collaboration across diverse teams, navigating through ambiguity and complex organizational structures, and establishing operational frameworks that enable product and engineering teams to operate efficiently without disorder.
Responsibilities Include:
Oversee program execution across various initiatives within People Innovation Labs, ensuring clear plans, milestones, responsibilities, and timelines are established.
Foster cross-functional alignment among People, Recruiting, HRBPs, Finance, Legal, IT, Security, and Engineering partners.
Manage dependencies and sequencing across systems (e.g., HRIS, ATS, permissions, data pipelines, rollout infrastructure).
Proactively identify risks, bottlenecks, and tradeoffs, and facilitate their resolution.
Create and maintain operational rhythms for key initiatives, including status updates, reviews, launch readiness, and retrospectives.
