Role Overview

The Quality Controller plays a key role in maintaining high standards on electrical construction projects. This position is on-site in Chester, Virginia, and works closely with project teams to ensure quality, safety, and compliance throughout all phases of installation and commissioning.

Main Responsibilities

On-Site Quality Installation Oversight

  • Inspect and oversee all on-site electrical work, including conduit and cable installations, MV/LV switchgear, panels, lighting systems, lighting controls, and grounding.
  • Verify that all work meets project specifications, the National Electrical Code (NEC), and client requirements.
  • Conduct daily walkdowns and quality checks during active construction.
  • Perform in-process inspections at key milestones, such as slab pours, wall closures, and panel energization.

Testing and Commissioning

  • Supervise and document pre-commissioning and final testing of electrical systems, including IR, continuity, phase sequence, loop checks, VLF, and ground resistance.
  • Work with testing vendors and commissioning agents to witness and document pre-commissioning and commissioning activities.
  • Ensure test equipment is properly calibrated and procedures are followed.

Documentation and Reporting

  • Maintain up-to-date daily inspection QA/QC logs, test records, inspection reports, NCRs, and punch lists for the site.
  • Track submittal and RFI logs.
  • Confirm that as-built drawings and redline markups match actual field conditions.

Issue Resolution and Coordination

  • Identify workmanship issues, non-conformances, or code violations on-site and support corrective actions.
  • Work closely with project engineers, electrical foremen, subcontractors, and client QA/QC representatives to maintain quality standards.
  • Participate in daily toolbox talks, safety walks, and progress meetings as the on-site quality advocate.

Team Collaboration and Compliance

  • Partner with site engineers, foremen, and subcontractors to resolve quality-related issues and ensure compliance with project requirements.
