About the job
Are you seeking an impactful career as an R&D Engineer? Do you excel at bridging the gap between theory and practice? Join AVTH, where R&D activities rapidly transition into practical applications.
What Will You Do?
As an R&D Engineer specializing in mechanical testing for new propulsion technologies within the “Testing and Evaluation” department, you will engage in projects focused on testing innovative propulsion methods. This includes, for example, testing hydrogen electric drive systems, where our department emphasizes mechanical and thermal conditions while collaborating with colleagues to define performance and electrical parameters. You will also navigate stringent safety regulations associated with hydrogen use and may be involved in certification processes.
In addition to complete systems, you will address detailed inquiries and components, leading the design process, managing the realization, and overseeing the mechanical testing.
Your expertise will be utilized for developmental and testing work in defense, aerospace, and (inter)national high-tech industries. In the Full Scale Test team, you will collaborate closely with colleagues from various disciplines within NLR.
What Do You Bring?
A completed academic degree in Physics, Aerospace Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering.
A hands-on mentality, comfortable working both in the facilities and the office.
Experience in mechanical design.
Knowledge of hydrogen electric propulsion technology.
Awareness of safety measures regarding hydrogen.
Programming experience for data processing (e.g., MATLAB, Java, Python, C) is a plus.
Entrepreneurial spirit, curiosity, creativity, and flexibility.
Self-reflection and initiative in personal and team development.
A keen eye for customer interests and the ability to act accordingly.
Excellent verbal and written proficiency in Dutch and English.
