We are seeking a strategic and visionary QA Architect to unify and enhance our testing strategy across multiple projects. Currently, our testing efforts lack cohesion, which poses risks and hinders automation. In this role, you will outline a comprehensive testing methodology, choose suitable tools, and develop a robust automation framework that seamlessly integrates with the software development lifecycle (SDLC). Your efforts will ensure adherence to technical standards, improve test coverage, and expedite release cycles while maintaining the highest quality standards. Transitioning our approach from reactive testing to proactive quality engineering, you will play a crucial role in reducing defects, enhancing scalability, and aligning with our business objectives to deliver high-performing software solutions.
A typical day as a QA Architect includes:
- Ownership of Testing Strategy & Standards: Define and oversee a risk-based, shift-left testing strategy; establish quality gates, test levels, and clear definitions of what constitutes 'done' across teams.
- CI/CD Integration: Integrate automated test suites within CI/CD pipelines; set pass/fail criteria, implement flaky-test quarantine policies, and manage artifact publishing (reports, logs, screenshots).
- Test Data & Environments: Design and manage strategies for synthetic and seeded test data; supervise environment provisioning, versioning, and configuration management.
- Non-functional Testing: Lead automated performance, reliability, and baseline security/vulnerability testing, supported by centralized dashboards.
- Observability & Reporting: Establish and monitor quality metrics (coverage, defect escape rate, MTTR/MTTD, pipeline pass rate) and publish dashboards to aid in release readiness decisions.
- Tooling Governance: Assess, select, and govern test management and automation tools; drive integrations with issue tracking and requirements systems.
- Platform Coverage: Ensure all-encompassing cross-platform test strategies for web, mobile (Android/iOS), and other platforms.
