MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:BA/BS in Civil Engineering or a related field plus 8 years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:10 years of relevant experience in civil engineering. Professional Engineer (PE) license in one or more states in the western US or the ability to obtain one. Proven experience in business development and client relationship management. Background in designing transit and transportation infrastructure. Familiarity with design software such as MicroStation, GEOPAK, and/or OpenRoads - managing task budgets and schedules effectively. Exemplary leadership and communication skills, particularly in client interactions. Ability to collaborate with diverse, multi-disciplinary teams is crucial. Expertise in Quality Control and Quality Assurance in design/project management/program management. Proficient in MS Office Suite.

AECOM is actively seeking a Senior Project Manager - Transit/Rail to join our esteemed team in the Salt Lake, Denver, or Phoenix office. This pivotal role will report directly to the US West Region Transit/Rail Engineering Department.

JOB SUMMARY:

The Senior Project Manager will oversee business development initiatives and manage transit studies, including both preliminary and final design phases of various transit infrastructure projects, such as BRT, LRT, Streetcar, Commuter Rail, Heavy Rail, and High-Speed Rail across the western United States. Our clients consist of distinguished organizations including the Colorado Department of Transportation, City and County of Denver, DART, LA Metro, BART, Caltrans, San Diego MTS, UTA, RTD, and more. The ideal candidate may take on roles as an AECOM team leader, project manager, and/or technical task leader for selected projects, while ensuring effective collaboration with teams across the AECOM US West Region.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Contributes to specific and moderate elements of broader engineering assignments.
  • Collects and correlates essential engineering data following established procedures.
  • Engages in detailed engineering tasks involving calculations and basic testing.
  • Develops innovative solutions to emerging challenges by modifying standard procedures.
  • Identifies and addresses discrepancies in project results.
  • Mentors and guides entry-level engineers.
  • Delivers work in accordance with established budgets and schedules with minimal supervision.
  • Independently executes primary design components for engineering projects.
  • Demonstrates a requisite level of experience in a professional engineering capacity.
