Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications8-10+ years of experience in data engineering, with a focus on building scalable data pipelines and products. Expertise in SQL and proficiency in at least one programming language such as Python, Scala, or Java. Demonstrated experience in constructing and maintaining resilient data pipelines and ETL workflows, including hands-on experience with dbt for reliable, testable, and maintainable data transformations. Proficient in ingesting data from various sources, including APIs, databases, SaaS applications, and event streams. Strong foundation in data modeling, schema design, and best practices for data quality, with practical experience on cloud platforms like Snowflake, Redshift, BigQuery, or Databricks. Experience in implementing CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and data observability to ensure the reliability and integrity of data systems.

The Data Engineering team is responsible for creating tools and systems that ensure Gusto's data is consistent, user-friendly, and actionable. Our mission is to empower teams to make data-driven decisions and deliver tailored experiences to our customers.

We are in search of a Senior Data Engineer who can navigate loosely defined problems and drive them from conception to execution, this includes framing the issues, aligning stakeholders, and designing, building, and deploying robust data solutions. You will collaborate closely with analytics, product, and engineering teams to implement data strategies that yield significant business and customer outcomes.
