The Carbon team develops a custom, high-performance game engine that supports visualization and simulation for defense applications. This group designs and maintains core graphics infrastructure, rendering systems, and engine technology for real-time, accurate defense scenarios. Their responsibilities range from low-level graphics optimization and custom rendering pipelines to advanced developer tools and extensibility frameworks. The team’s work enables rapid iteration while maintaining performance and reliability, supporting products like Sand Table. Carbon combines the technical rigor of AAA game engine development with the security and reliability required for national defense.
Role Overview
The Senior Manager, Software Engineering - Game Development leads a team of engineers building interfaces for complex, mission-critical systems. This role shapes the technical direction and culture of the group, ensuring the team delivers reliable and high-performing software for defense visualization and simulation.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor: Manage and support a team of more than five software engineers. Foster a culture of high performance, technical excellence, and collaboration. Oversee team composition, including hiring, performance management, and career growth.
- Drive technical strategy: Work with product managers and stakeholders to define the technical vision and roadmap for the team.
