Your Role

Epic Games is in search of a Senior Security Programmer specializing in Game Security. You will be instrumental in developing and enhancing anti-cheat mechanisms within our games. Your contributions will be vital to the success of Fortnite and the many creators who rely on it. Ideal candidates should possess prior experience in developing gameplay features and backend services, with a strong preference for those familiar with Unreal Engine. Your primary focus will encompass dedicated server and backend code, while collaborating closely with client code teams and game developers to ensure robust, feature-rich, and secure systems. This role offers a unique opportunity to foster a secure environment for millions of players and to shape industry best practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and develop new backend features and services that enhance Fortnite's anti-cheat and related security capabilities, alongside implementing corresponding game code.
  • Read, debug, and write C++ code for Fortnite and associated backend services in Go.
  • Proactively identify vulnerabilities in the Fortnite game client or backend, clearly communicate issues and solutions, and implement fixes where appropriate, promoting a security-first mindset across teams.
  • Debug, modify, and optimize existing security systems for both the Fortnite game client and backend components.
  • Ensure optimal operation of Fortnite for players, maintaining resilient services at scale and assisting in resolving live issues.

Qualifications

  • BSc in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in security programming, especially within gaming environments.
  • Familiarity with Unreal Engine is a significant advantage.
