Role Overview: Senior Software Engineer – Windows/Desktop Applications
This role focuses on building and maintaining native Windows desktop applications for Speechify. The work centers on ensuring high performance, accessibility, and a seamless user experience across Windows 10 and 11.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, architect, and develop native Windows desktop apps using Windows App SDK, WinUI, C#, XAML, and sometimes C++.
- Set standards for Windows desktop development, emphasizing code structure, performance, memory management, UI responsiveness, compatibility, and maintainability.
- Lead accessibility efforts by implementing and validating support for accessibility APIs, including Microsoft UI Automation. Ensure UI controls, keyboard navigation, screen-reader support, and usability for people with disabilities.
- Work closely with product designers, UX researchers, QA, and other teams to define features, UI/UX architecture, and the roadmap for Windows products.
- Manage the feature lifecycle from idea to release, maintaining quality and reliability in every update.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex issues, such as bugs, performance bottlenecks, memory leaks, and compatibility challenges. Propose strong architectural or design solutions as needed.
