Responsibilities: Conduct moderate-scale structural analysis efforts with significant cross-functional coordination. Develop and maintain finite element models (FEMs) at the component, subassembly, and satellite levels. Perform and document finite element analyses, including modal, stress, and vibration assessments. Prepare and present technical reports detailing design, analysis, and test outcomes. Collaborate within a multidisciplinary team to refine and optimize designs. Create and implement structural testing plans and procedures.

In the role of Senior Structural Analysis Engineer at BlackSky, you will play a crucial part in the development, verification, and testing of our satellite systems and associated hardware. You will construct finite element models for space hardware, encompassing electromechanical devices, deployed and stowed appendages, fully integrated satellites, and ground support equipment. Your analytical expertise will be instrumental in assessing environments and structural performance to determine the flightworthiness of satellite designs down to component assembly levels. Engaging actively in testing processes, you will generate test procedures, conduct pre-test analyses, determine instrumentation placements, execute testing, and correlate post-test models. Collaboration with satellite operators and launch service providers will ensure design compatibility with launch loads while producing and submitting verification artifacts. This dynamic role requires you to work within a highly skilled technical team dedicated to producing state-of-the-art satellites.

This position reports to the Director of Mechanical Engineering and offers a hybrid work model based in our Tukwila, WA office.
