As an accomplished Staff/Principal Engineer specializing in Perception Capabilities, you will spearhead the development of innovative software solutions utilizing advanced computer vision and deep learning techniques. Your extensive experience will encompass key areas such as detection, classification, segmentation, and tracking, as well as vital functions like data engines, labeling protocols, training pipelines, model optimization, simulation, and testing. You are motivated by the opportunity to make a substantial impact on products, demonstrating initiative and accountability for outcomes.
You'll be enthusiastic about applying your expertise to enhance the perception stack in autonomous vehicles. You are well-versed in the unique challenges posed by safety-critical, open-world applications and are dedicated to maintaining engineering excellence and thorough evaluations.
Your role will involve crafting innovative solutions to intricate challenges, collaborating with interdisciplinary teams focused on capabilities throughout the organization to design, implement, and validate comprehensive solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Drive the development and execution of solutions that integrate perception components and interface directly with downstream modules within the autonomy system.
- Evaluate the performance of the perception subsystem to proactively identify possible limitations impacting system-level capabilities. Document potential hazards and lead cross-team efforts to either eliminate or mitigate them.
- Collaborate on groundbreaking solutions to tackle “long tail” challenges, such as creating techniques for synthetic data generation, advanced data mining, or incorporating language embeddings into onboard models.
- Depending on your expertise and interests, you may also optimize and deploy models to the vehicle, ensuring they function within the restrictions of our onboard hardware while meeting our functional requirements and interface standards.
- Engage with systems and safety engineers, test engineers, and data analysts to ensure adequate requirements, test coverage, and performance metrics are established.
