The Swing Shift Foreman oversees second-shift operations, including fabrication, material processing, and machining. This role is responsible for maintaining safe, efficient, and high-quality production while working closely with department Leads to guide teams and ensure activities align with production schedules and company standards.
Leadership and Team Management
- Guide Fabrication, Processing, and Machine Shop staff through department Leads
- Set daily direction, coach team members, and hold staff accountable
- Promote safety, quality, and continuous improvement throughout the shift
Production Planning and Execution
- Plan and assign daily work based on production schedules
- Coordinate workflow between processing, machining, and fabrication teams
- Confirm all work orders, prints, and materials are ready for production
- Adjust staffing and priorities as needed to meet deadlines
Performance Management
- Track production rates, efficiency, and schedule adherence
- Evaluate crew productivity and equipment use
- Identify and resolve operational bottlenecks
Quality Oversight
- Ensure compliance with ASME/API codes and WPS requirements
- Maintain weld quality and dimensional accuracy
- Oversee traceability, labeling, and documentation
- Work with QA/QC teams to prevent and address defects
Safety and Equipment
- Enforce PPE use and safety protocols
- Ensure safe operation of shop equipment
- Maintain shop cleanliness and oversee maintenance tasks
Workforce Development
- Implement structured evaluation and progression systems
- Train and mentor employees in multiple departments
- Support cross-training and internal promotions
- Help develop high-performing employees and reduce turnover
