Qualifications & Skills:Currently enrolled in high school as a Junior or Senior. Willingness to undergo a background check and drug screening. Parental consent required for applicants under the age of 18.Strong interest in terminal operations, logistics, and supply chain management. Aptitude to thrive in a fast-paced, physically demanding environment. Eagerness to learn and follow directions from experienced team members. Basic computer skills and capability to learn terminal management software. Excellent communication and teamwork abilities. Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.

The Terminal Operations Apprentice position offers a unique opportunity for high school juniors and seniors to acquire valuable knowledge and hands-on experience in terminal operations, logistics, and safety practices. Under the mentorship of our Terminal Supervisors and Managers at our Granite City, IL facility, apprentices will develop essential skills in cargo handling, equipment operation, regulatory compliance, and enhancing terminal efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with daily terminal operations, including the loading, unloading, and storage of cargo.
  • Learn and comply with safety regulations, environmental policies, and operational best practices.
  • Support equipment inspections, maintenance scheduling, and inventory management.
  • Collaborate with operations teams to understand logistics, scheduling, and coordination of inbound and outbound shipments.
  • Participate in training sessions focused on industry regulations, emergency response procedures, and risk management.
  • Gain exposure to terminal management systems, reporting, and performance tracking.
  • Help facilitate communication and coordination with truck drivers, vessel crews, and warehouse personnel.
  • Adhere to company policies to maintain a safe and efficient work environment.
