Join Wise as a Data Engineer in our KYC & Onboarding team, where you will spearhead the development of robust data infrastructure and analytics pipelines aimed at detecting, preventing, and monitoring financial crime during customer onboarding. In this role, you will collaborate closely with product, compliance, analytics, and operations teams to generate data-driven insights and proactive controls that facilitate secure growth.Key ResponsibilitiesLead the design and implementation of data engineering pipelines in the onboarding, KYC, and FinCrime domains, establishing industry best practices for data modeling, testing, monitoring, and deployment.Define and manage the analytics infrastructure roadmap for the Global KYC & Onboarding squad, guiding the journey from data source ingestion to analytics delivery and dashboard creation.Develop and sustain core datasets focusing on KYC onboarding events, customer risk assessments, alert triggers, and case resolutions.Champion the adoption of modern tools (e.g., dbt, Airflow, Snowflake, Python, Looker/Superset) to enhance reliability, speed, and confidence in analytics outcomes.Implement best practices for data-pipeline instrumentation, monitoring, error handling, and data quality within a high-stakes regulatory environment.Collaborate with the Analytics and Product teams to turn complex data into clear, actionable insights for key stakeholders, driving informed decisions on customer acceptance, risk tiering, and remediation prioritization.Work with cross-functional teams (compliance, risk, product, operations) to discover new data sources, define tagging strategies, design KPIs (e.g., average onboarding time, false-positive rates), and deliver measurable business impact.
