The Security Engineer will play a crucial role in safeguarding our organization’s information systems and data throughout our project initiatives. This position involves implementing robust security measures to defend against potential threats and integrating security considerations into every phase of project development and execution.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and enforce comprehensive security policies and procedures for project environments, ensuring compliance with industry standards and government regulations (PSPF, ISM).
- Proactively monitor, assess, and manage vulnerabilities across systems and applications, configuring security tools such as firewalls, IDS, and anti-malware solutions in collaboration with our IT team.
- Create and maintain detailed documentation for security protocols, incident response plans, and guidelines to ensure consistency and adherence across all projects.
- Stay updated on cybersecurity trends and provide security awareness training to cultivate a proactive security culture among stakeholders and partners.
- Lead incident response efforts, including containment, eradication, recovery, and effective communication of risks and solutions to enhance security practices.
- Conduct thorough cyber risk assessments of systems and technologies to ensure compliance with government policies and bolster our overall security posture.
- Continuously enhance cybersecurity services by deploying new strategies, tools, and best practices to stay ahead of emerging threats.
- Manage and uphold agreed service levels, ensuring that cyber security operations align with organizational objectives.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Must possess an active NV1 Security Clearance.
- Experience in a client-facing role, preferably in a Managed Services environment within a project-based context.
- Strong expertise in security technologies and industry best practices.
- Exceptional analytical, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Familiarity with regulatory requirements and standards such as Essential Eight, ISO 27001, and NIST.
- Proficient in Linux and Windows server administration.
- Experience with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V).
- Strong scripting abilities (e.g., PowerShell, Python).
