ABOUT OUR PLATFORM ENGINEERING TEAM
Platform Engineering serves as the backbone of Trade Republic's engineering capabilities. Our goal is to establish scalable platforms that support our operations as a pan-European bank. Our team of approximately 50 focuses on empowering product engineers to move swiftly and operate independently by default.
We create self-service platforms, standardized workflows, and specialized tools to enable over 300 engineers to deploy their work confidently. From managing Kubernetes fleets to maintaining CI/CD pipelines and developing an internal Developer Hub based on Backstage, our contributions are essential to every trade, savings plan, and card transaction processed on our platform.
ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
As the Database Platform Tech Lead, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the infrastructure essential for Trade Republic's operations, impacting every trade, savings plan, and card payment. You will lead the team responsible for creating a self-service database operations platform that is automated and reliable, even at scale.
- Establish Database Reliability Standards: Design failover mechanisms, replication topologies, and recovery strategies that align with our availability goals. You will also oversee the engineering roadmap to bridge the current state to the required reliability.
- Pursue Zero-Touch Operations: Define the vision for fully automated database operations, including provisioning and zero-downtime migrations, and spearhead the initiatives that achieve this.
- Own Database Technology Strategy: Determine appropriate database technologies for various challenges, establish adoption criteria, manage the technology portfolio, and ensure deliberate decision-making in database selection.
