Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering along with ten (10) years of pertinent experience in electrical design and/or engineering, particularly related to data center infrastructure, or a demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education. A valid Professional Engineer License (P. E.) is a requirement. Preferred Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering plus twelve (12) years of relevant experience in electrical design and/or engineering, with a focus on data center infrastructure, or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education. Extensive experience in electrical engineering for data centers or critical facilities. Strong knowledge of NEC (NFPA70). Exemplary leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills. Ability to cultivate and maintain strong client relationships. Creative thinking skills and the ability to identify opportunities for improvement.

AECOM is in search of a highly skilled Electrical Engineer Lead specializing in Hyper-scale Data Centers. This position involves leading the design, implementation, and maintenance of electrical systems within large-scale data centers.

The successful candidate will significantly contribute to the reliability, efficiency, and safety of our data center infrastructure. We seek an individual with a robust background in electrical engineering and extensive experience in high-density data center environments.

This role offers the flexibility of remote work and can be based from various locations in the U. S. where AECOM has an office.

While the position is primarily remote, occasional travel may be necessary for client meetings, project milestones, onsite collaboration sessions, or other vital business activities. Travel will be infrequent and planned in advance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design and implement electrical systems for hyper-scale data centers, including medium and low-voltage power distribution, backup power systems, and emergency systems.
  • Create and maintain electrical schematics, bills of materials, and installation drawings.
  • Ensure compliance with industry standards, codes, and regulations such as the National Electric Code (NEC) and International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) standards.
  • Collaborate with engineers and stakeholders to establish specifications, design criteria, and project budgets.
  • Analyze electrical systems to identify and resolve issues related to load balancing, capacity planning, and power consumption optimization.
  • Monitor and maintain electrical systems, carrying out preventative maintenance, testing, and repairs.
  • Develop and implement electrical safety protocols and training programs for technicians and other staff.
  • Stay informed of advancements in electrical engineering and data center technologies, recommending new solutions to enhance the reliability and efficiency of our infrastructure.
  • Accountable for the success of projects within the electrical discipline.
  • Provide specialized technical input to supporting staff, serving as a mentor and leader for mid-level engineers.
  • Approve and sign off on work, serving as the Engineer of Record.
