Key Responsibilities:- Review, analyze, and process new and backlogged Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) requests.- Manage incoming requests and prepare comprehensive FOIA request folders.- Input request data into the FOIA tracking database effectively.- Draft response letters and other related FOIA correspondence.- Engage in negotiations with requesters, FOIA personnel, sponsors, and contractors regarding requested records and relevant information to be disclosed.- Act as a liaison with requesters and occasionally with other agencies and appellants, particularly for records involving multiple agency components.- Coordinate searches for pertinent documents while identifying duplicate records.- Review program records for relevance and make informed release determinations.- Ensure that released materials comply with applicable exemptions.
