Role overview
The Senior Manager of Artificial Intelligence will lead LeoLabs’ new AI team in Chantilly, VA. This group of about five engineers sits within a larger software engineering organization of thirty. The team’s work covers both customer-facing and internal projects in AI and data engineering, including agentic AI development, orbital event detection and characterization, and data lake management.
The AI team uses services from other internal groups, such as radar development and catalog maintenance, to support its work. As the team’s leader, the Senior Manager will oversee AI/ML Engineers, Data Engineers, and Software Engineers, ensuring high performance of AI/ML algorithms and effective use of the data lake for internal and external needs.
What you will do
- Manage and mentor a cross-functional team focused on AI and data engineering initiatives
- Drive agentic AI development and support orbital event detection and characterization
- Oversee the management and use of LeoLabs’ data lake
- Ensure AI/ML algorithms meet rigorous performance standards
- Collaborate with other teams providing radar and catalog services
