Job OverviewThe Construction Manager (Project Management Consultant) is the frontline leader in construction execution and serves as the principal client representative. This role encompasses comprehensive management of construction activities related to transmission lines, substations (both AIS and GIS/Digital), and the integration of renewable energy sources such as solar, wind, and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS).Key responsibilities include multidisciplinary coordination among Electrical, Civil, and Instrumentation & Control (I&C) systems, ensuring adherence to engineering standards, quality assurance, safety protocols, and project timelines. This position closely collaborates with the Team Leader, Engineering Directors, Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC), Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE), and Project Controls teams to ensure successful project outcomes.Core Responsibilities1. Site and Construction ManagementDirect and manage daily construction operations for substations (up to 765 kV), transmission lines, and renewable energy infrastructure.Guarantee execution aligns with approved designs, technical specifications, Quality Assurance Plans (QAP), and method statements.Oversee EPC contractors and subcontractors, ensuring compliance with contract stipulations and site readiness.Assess site conditions, constructability, and readiness while proactively identifying potential constraints (such as Right-of-Way, logistics, interfaces).Facilitate efficient deployment of labor, materials, and equipment on-site.2. Coordination Across Disciplines (Electrical, Civil & I&C)Engage closely with Electrical, Civil & Structural, and I&C leads to ensure seamless integration of:Substation systems (AIS/GIS, transformers, reactors, switchgear)Transmission line construction (tower erection, stringing, foundations)Control & protection systems (SCADA, SAS, PLC, WAPS/PMU where applicable)Address site-level engineering challenges and ensure prompt resolution of RFIs, TQs, and design discrepancies.Manage interfaces between renewable energy projects (solar, wind, BESS) and grid infrastructure.3. Renewable Energy & Grid Integration OversightSupervise the construction of solar PV facilities, wind farms, and BESS systems, ensuring compliance with grid interconnection standards.Confirm the readiness of pooling substations, evacuation systems, and SCADA integration.Collaborate with stakeholders for grid synchronization, testing, and commissioning.4. Project Controls & PlanningCoordinate with the Project Controls team to:Track progress against L2/L3 schedules (using Primavera/MSP)Monitor critical path activities and identify any delaysImplement recovery plans and corrective actions as necessaryAssist in the preparation of daily, weekly, and monthly progress reports, dashboards, and forecasts.Ensure alignment among construction progress, procurement, and engineering deliverables.5. Quality Assurance and ComplianceUphold the highest standards of quality assurance throughout the construction process, ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
