Role overview
The Fabrication Foreman manages all shop fabrication activities in Plymouth, Utah. This position leads 2–3 Lead Welders and their crews, planning daily operations and coordinating fabrication processes. A key focus is improving safety, efficiency, and quality across multiple teams. The Foreman also oversees the welder development and progression system, using structured evaluations and coaching to help team members grow. EOS management principles guide these efforts.
Key responsibilities
Leadership and team management
- Supervise and mentor Lead Welders and their crews
- Help Leads develop crew management skills to meet Level 3 standards
- Provide daily guidance, accountability, and coaching
- Promote safety, quality, accountability, and continuous improvement
- Support morale through engagement, recognition, and development
Production planning and execution
- Assign and organize daily work based on production schedules
- Coordinate fabrication sequences for efficient workflow and minimal rework
- Allocate manpower across jobs and crews
- Track progress and adjust plans to meet deadlines
- Collaborate with engineering, QA/QC, and management
Performance management
- Monitor and manage production rates, efficiency, repair/rework frequency, schedule adherence, and crew productivity
- Ensure compliance with Level 1–3 production and quality metrics
- Identify bottlenecks and take corrective action
Quality oversight
- Ensure all work meets ASME/API codes and WPS standards
- Encourage self-inspection practices within teams
- Work with QA/QC to resolve issues and prevent repeat defects
- Guide Leads in preventing weld discontinuities
Safety and compliance
- Enforce safety policies and PPE requirements
- Promote proactive safety leadership within crews
- Maintain high standards for workplace cleanliness and equipment care
Welder development and progression
The Foreman leads the Welder/Fabricator Progression Program, supporting rapid skill growth and fair, structured advancement through regular assessments and coaching.
