Role overview
This freelance, remote position combines quantum research with Python training. Projects vary in scope and may involve several aspects of computational physics and programming. Tasks include:
- Designing computational physics problems based on real research processes
- Developing problems that require Python programming to solve, using libraries such as Numpy, SciPy, or Sympy
- Ensuring problems are computationally intensive and not solvable by hand within a reasonable timeframe
- Creating scenarios in mechanics, electromagnetism, thermodynamics, and quantum mechanics that require complex reasoning
- Basing problems on real research challenges or practical physics applications
- Validating solutions using Python and standard physics simulation libraries
- Documenting problem statements clearly and providing verified solutions
Requirements
- Degree in Physics (theoretical, experimental, or computational) or a closely related field
- Proficiency in Python for numerical validation; familiarity with MATLAB, R, C, SQL, Numpy, Pandas, SciPy, or other domain libraries is a plus
- Minimum of 2 years of professional experience in applied, research, or teaching roles
- Experience with numerical simulation techniques
- Ability to design problems that reflect authentic physics research workflows
- Creative problem-solving skills across physics domains
- Understanding of physics modeling and approximation techniques
- Strong English writing skills at C1 level or above
How projects work
The workflow is simple:
- Apply
- Pass qualifications
- Join a project
- Complete assigned tasks
- Receive compensation
Time commitment
Tasks typically require 10–20 hours per week during active project phases. The actual workload depends on project needs and is not guaranteed outside these periods.
Compensation
Contributors may earn up to $76 per hour, depending on contribution level and pace. Pay varies by project based on scope, complexity, and expertise required. Other projects on the platform may offer different rates based on their specific requirements.
