toloka-ai (in partnership with Mindrift) connects skilled specialists to project-based AI roles with leading tech companies. These roles focus on evaluating, testing, and improving AI systems. This is a project-based engagement, not a permanent employment position.
Role Overview
This freelance position centers on developing and validating challenging computational physics problems for AI system evaluation. Contributors work on tasks such as:
- Designing original computational physics challenges that mirror real research workflows
- Creating problems that require Python programming to solve, using libraries like Numpy, SciPy, or Sympy
- Ensuring problems are complex enough that manual solutions are impractical (requiring days or weeks)
- Developing scenarios involving advanced reasoning in mechanics, electromagnetism, thermodynamics, and quantum mechanics
- Basing problems on authentic research challenges or practical physics implementations
- Validating solutions in Python with standard physics simulation tools
- Writing clear problem statements and providing verified, correct solutions
What We Look For
- Degree in Physics (theoretical, experimental, or computational) or a related field
- Strong Python skills for numerical validation; familiarity with other languages or tools (MATLAB, R, C, SQL, Numpy, Pandas, SciPy, Stata, or domain-specific libraries) is also valued
- At least 2 years of experience in applied research or teaching
- Background in numerical simulation techniques
- Ability to design problems that reflect real-world physics research
- Creative problem-solving across multiple physics domains
- Understanding of physics modeling and approximation methods
- Excellent written English (C1+ level)

Project Commitment
During active project phases, tasks typically require about 10–20 hours per week, depending on project needs. This is an estimate and not a guaranteed workload.
Compensation
Contributors can earn up to $10 per hour, depending on contribution and efficiency. Actual rates may vary by project scope, complexity, and required skills. Other projects on the platform may offer different earning potential based on their specific requirements.

This is a remote role based in Hyderabad, Telangana, India.
