Qualifications

Mandatory Requirements:A degree in Business, Engineering, or Information Science. Experience in data analysis within a financial services institution such as an investment bank, retail bank, or insurance company. A strong grasp of macroeconomic and financial data, including country-level indicators and sovereign risk concepts. Proven experience in data curation and management. Advanced working knowledge of:SQL (for querying and managing relational databases)Python (for data processing and automation)Excel (for analysis and validation)Power BI (for reporting and data visualization). Fluency in written and spoken English. Excellent analytical thinking and problem-solving abilities. Strong data presentation and storytelling skills. Desirable Skills:Familiarity with SAP Analytics Cloud, STATA, and/or R. Knowledge of data quality frameworks and metadata management. Experience working with international financial institutions or central banks.

About the job

As an Intermediate Business Analyst, you will play a critical role in database maintenance and data management. Your primary responsibilities will include maintaining and updating a comprehensive database that houses macroeconomic and sovereign risk indicators at both country and time-series levels. You will curate, clean, and validate data sourced from reputable international institutions, public datasets, and licensed providers. Additionally, you will implement and maintain SQL queries and views to ensure reliable and efficient access to essential data while supporting enhancements in data structures, metadata, and documentation as necessary.

Data Processing and Automation:
Utilize Python and SQL to automate processes related to data ingestion, transformation, validation, and consistency checks. You will also maintain and enhance existing scripts and analytical tools used by the client for regular data updates, and utilize Excel for ad-hoc analysis, validation, and reconciliation tasks.

Reporting and Data Visualization:
You will be responsible for maintaining and updating existing reports and dashboards that are integral to the client’s publications and internal dissemination of information. Your role will involve creating and maintaining data visualizations primarily using Power BI, as well as Excel and SAP Analytics Cloud, ensuring that all visual outputs are aligned with the underlying data and adhere to ECON methodological standards.

Data Quality and Consistency:
Contribute to the enhancement of consistency in macroeconomic and financial data used across various EIB services. You will support the definition and enforcement of common indicators, definitions, and reference datasets while assisting ECON in responding to internal data requests and facilitating cross-service coordination on economic data usage.
