Requirements: A minimum of 2–4 years of journalism experience, preferably within the art market or art world. Candidates from outside these sectors are encouraged to apply if they possess outstanding reporting skills and a proven ability to quickly familiarize themselves with a new beat. Thorough knowledge of art, the art world, the art market, and key auction houses. Ability to work swiftly and accurately in a digital environment while collaborating effectively with others. A clear, engaging, and jargon-free writing style. Familiarity with SEO best practices. Some experience in editing content for publication. Proficiency in using content management systems and social media platforms.

About the job

ARTnews seeks a UK Staff Reporter based in London to cover the art world across the UK and Europe. This role reports to the Executive Digital Editor. The reporter will write around two online articles each day and contribute several longer features each month.

Main Responsibilities

  • Report on the London and European art scenes as ARTnews’s primary correspondent in the region.
  • Write daily news stories and in-depth features, including profiles of emerging dealers and artists, Q&As with auction house experts and collectors, and analytical pieces on artists' markets from Old Masters to Ultra-Contemporary.
  • Contribute to On Balance, the weekly newsletter focused on the art market.
  • Cover auctions and fairs, with special attention to sales in London, Paris, and Switzerland.
  • Share responsibility for writing and editing the morning newsletter, Breakfast With ARTnews.

What We’re Looking For

  • Proactive, independent journalist comfortable working solo as the region’s main representative.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to manage a wide range of art-related topics.
  • Excellent command of language and some experience or comfort with editing.
  • Self-motivated and able to balance daily news writing with longer-form features.

Work Location and Culture

This role is based in the London office. PMC supports in-person collaboration: employees work on-site four days per week and have one remote day. The company values team cohesion and an inclusive, vibrant workplace culture.
