About the Role
As Crunchyroll expands and evolves, we face unique challenges and opportunities to enhance the experience of millions of anime fans globally. The AI/ML team is pivotal in providing support to our internal stakeholders, ensuring a top-notch experience for all Crunchyroll users.
- Lead and mentor a skilled team of data scientists in developing and deploying cutting-edge ML solutions, including Graph Neural Networks (GNNs), Large Language Model (LLM) applications, and fraud detection systems.
- Define and execute the roadmap for AI/ML initiatives across Crunchyroll’s product and platform ecosystem.
- Collaborate closely with data engineering, software engineering, and DevOps teams to establish robust ML pipelines and infrastructure.
- Set best practices for experimentation, model evaluation, A/B testing, and continuous learning in production environments.
- Engage with stakeholders across business, marketing, security, and content teams to identify and transform AI opportunities into actionable projects.
- Ensure responsible AI/ML development by prioritizing model interpretability, performance, and fairness.
- Manage operational metrics concerning model impact, latency, cost, and system scalability.
- Foster a collaborative team culture centered on innovation, curiosity, and continuous learning.
About You
We are excited about candidates like you because...
- You hold a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Statistics, Data Science, or a related quantitative field.
- You have 5+ years of industry experience in data science or applied machine learning, including 2+ years in a leadership role.
- You possess a proven track record of delivering production ML systems that address real-world business challenges.
- You have deep expertise in ML/AI frameworks (e.g., PyTorch, TensorFlow, HuggingFace) and experience with applied NLP, GNNs, GraphRAG, and embeddings.
- You are familiar with building systems that utilize Graph Databases, Vector Stores (e.g., FAISS, Pinecone), and cloud-native ML stacks (SageMaker, Databricks, etc.).
