This pivotal role involves leading the commissioning and rigorous testing of complex engineering systems, ensuring each vessel meets stringent safety, compliance, and operational standards prior to being accepted into service.

We are looking for someone who thrives in tackling intricate engineering challenges, enjoys collaborative teamwork across diverse groups, and consistently delivers exceptional results in a dynamic environment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the comprehensive Test & Commissioning program across various ship systems and engineering disciplines.
  • Develop, manage, and continually update the commissioning schedule.
  • Serve as the primary liaison for Navantia, the Ministry of Defence, and classification societies regarding all commissioning and trial activities.
  • Ensure all commissioning actions align with the Verification Matrix, Build Specifications, and client requirements.
  • Oversee commissioning documentation through the Completions Management System.
  • Review and endorse FAT, HAT, and SAT procedures and reports.
  • Promote safe working systems, including permits, RAMS, and controls for high-risk tasks.
  • Coordinate vendor support and technical contributions during the commissioning process.
  • Engage in Acceptance Working Groups, Test Group meetings, and sea trials.
  • Track progress using standard metrics and provide regular updates to senior management.
  • Manage punch-list closure and ensure completion and approval of all test procedures.
  • Guarantee that commissioning activities are conducted safely and do not interfere with other ongoing operations.

Qualifications:

  • Extensive experience in shipbuilding, marine engineering, or ship commissioning.
  • In-depth knowledge of ship systems, machinery, and maritime regulations.
  • Proven ability to manage complex engineering projects and coordinate multidisciplinary teams.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Strong problem-solving capabilities and meticulous attention to detail.
  • Able to function effectively in a fast-paced, evolving project environment.
  • SC clearance is preferred; candidates must be eligible to obtain it.

This role is based on-site in Belfast and may require travel and occasional overnight stays. Extended hours might be necessary during critical project phases. While the position presents low physical risk, a strong emphasis on safety and compliance is vital.
