The Operations and Maintenance Technician plays a crucial role in ensuring the seamless operation and maintenance of specialized equipment within a water treatment facility. This includes managing pumps, motors, and chemical preparation systems while adhering to both physical and chemical treatment processes. The technician is responsible for maintaining thorough operational records and submitting routine reports as required. Regular inspections of mechanical equipment will be conducted to ensure optimal performance, along with executing preventive and corrective maintenance tasks. In emergency situations, the technician will analyze equipment histories and implement appropriate responses. Additionally, field and laboratory tests will be performed to monitor facility operations, with necessary adjustments made based on test results under the guidance of a supervisor. The technician will also assist in the operation and repair of water systems and train fellow employees in facility operations, maintenance protocols, and safety procedures as needed.
Key Responsibilities:
- Operate, maintain, repair, and inspect water treatment systems to ensure compliance with all state and federal regulations.
- Utilize manual and electronic systems, including SCADA, to monitor gauges and operating equipment.
- Ensure water quality standards are achieved by calculating and calibrating chemical feed rates.
- Maintain cleanliness and good housekeeping practices within the plant.
- Conduct safety inspections and adhere to safety protocols.
- Optimize pumping operations for efficiency as directed by a supervisor.
- Manage start-up, shutdown, and routine checks of treatment processes and equipment.
- Make necessary adjustments to chemical feed equipment and other plant components as required.
Flexibility is required to work nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime, as well as to cover shifts as needed to maintain operational efficiency.
