Valard Construction LP is looking for a Project Accountant to join the Major Projects team at the head office in South Edmonton. This office-based position runs Monday through Friday, with standard 8-hour workdays. The role centers on providing accounting support and maintaining operational cost control across major projects from start to finish.

Key responsibilities

  • Set up new projects and oversee initial accounting processes
  • Lead and organize month-end cost accrual meetings with Project Managers, buyers, and receivers to gather and enter accrual data
  • Assist the Project Controller in closing and reviewing project costs on a weekly, monthly, and quarterly basis
  • Prepare client invoices and track billing information
  • Monitor and maintain project budgets
  • Identify and resolve discrepancies in cost coding
  • Validate and manage contracts with subcontractors
  • Process and manage project cost accruals
  • Record financial transactions using journal entries
  • Reconcile project costs for accuracy
  • Support the processing of change orders
  • Gather and organize materials for internal and external audits
  • Analyze project profitability and performance
  • Contribute to financial forecasting
  • Use Excel for special projects and ad hoc analysis
  • Provide support for Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions as needed
  • Manage the closeout process for completed projects
  • Ensure compliance with established accounting systems and procedures

This role is a key part of the team, focusing on accurate financial tracking and supporting the success of major projects throughout their life cycle.
