Requirements:Proven expertise in laser technology for atom-based sensors and frequency standards. In-depth understanding of stability and accuracy limitations in atomic systems. Experience in designing and aligning laser systems using both bulk and fiber optics. Hands-on experience in designing and constructing vacuum systems. Proficient with laboratory test and measurement equipment. Exceptional analytical and troubleshooting abilities. A dynamic work ethos is essential. To comply with U. S. Government contracts, applicants must be U. S. citizens or permanent residents. Desired Experience:Familiarity with the impact of electrical and laser noise on atomic systems. Strong enthusiasm for enhancing the precision and accuracy of atomic systems. Basic knowledge of optical design software (e.g., Zemax) and 3D modeling software (e.g., SolidWorks). EDUCATION:Ph. D. in Physics or equivalent professional experience.

POSITION SUMMARY:

We invite skilled physicists with a strong background in atomic physics to join our team. As a Quantum Physicist at AOSense, you will leverage your expertise in laser technology and atomic physics to design, build, optimize, and validate field-ready atom optic accelerometers, gyroscopes, absolute gravimeters, gravity gradiometers, atomic frequency standards, and magnetometers. Your contributions will be pivotal in steering the evolution of next-generation atomic devices from the lab to real-world applications.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Contribute to the design and development of atom-based sensors and frequency standards.
  • Oversee the fabrication and assembly of physics units, including vacuum cells and optomechanics.
  • Define and implement performance specifications for control and optical subsystems.
  • Integrate atomic physics units with laser and control subsystems.
  • Conduct testing to evaluate system sensitivity, accuracy, and environmental susceptibility.
  • Assist in drafting research proposals for further advancements and applications.
