THE JOB

At VEG, we don't just hire assistants, we nurture future emergency rockstars. As a per diem Emergency Veterinary Assistant, you'll dive into the action from day one, supporting your team, comforting pet parents, and gaining hands-on experience in a dynamic environment. You'll be involved in triage, treatments, and all the joy that comes with tail wags. Whether you're aiming to become a credentialed technician or exploring your career options, we are committed to supporting your growth journey.

 

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Provide a warm welcome and steady support by triaging incoming patients and guiding them toward necessary care.
  • Assist with treatments, nursing care, and diagnostics, including bloodwork, imaging, catheter placement, and oxygen support.
  • Collaborate with our skilled veterinary technicians and veterinarians to set up and monitor anesthesia and sedation cases.
  • Manage IV fluids, blood transfusions, and medication administration.
  • Participate in all aspects of care: from outpatient exams to inpatient treatment areas.
  • Engage in patient rounds to ensure continuity of care.
  • Learn CPR techniques and become a RECOVER Certified Rescuer (training provided).
  • Advance into more complex responsibilities as you grow within the role.
