THE JOB
At VEG, we don't just hire assistants, we nurture future emergency rockstars. As a per diem Emergency Veterinary Assistant, you'll dive into the action from day one, supporting your team, comforting pet parents, and gaining hands-on experience in a dynamic environment. You'll be involved in triage, treatments, and all the joy that comes with tail wags. Whether you're aiming to become a credentialed technician or exploring your career options, we are committed to supporting your growth journey.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Provide a warm welcome and steady support by triaging incoming patients and guiding them toward necessary care.
- Assist with treatments, nursing care, and diagnostics, including bloodwork, imaging, catheter placement, and oxygen support.
- Collaborate with our skilled veterinary technicians and veterinarians to set up and monitor anesthesia and sedation cases.
- Manage IV fluids, blood transfusions, and medication administration.
- Participate in all aspects of care: from outpatient exams to inpatient treatment areas.
- Engage in patient rounds to ensure continuity of care.
- Learn CPR techniques and become a RECOVER Certified Rescuer (training provided).
- Advance into more complex responsibilities as you grow within the role.
